Ifadha Sifar is a PhD student in international and global history at Columbia, broadly interested in the social history of the Indian Ocean world. Her research currently focuses on the pearl trade in the western Indian Ocean world between the late-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with an emphasis on pearling in the Gulf of Mannar and the Persian Gulf.
For AY 2022-2023, she is a co-convenor of the International History Workshop, sponsored by the Center for International History at Columbia.
