The Graduate Program

Graduate History Association

The Graduate History Association (GHA) brings graduate students in the department together, and works to give them a voice in department affairs. Graduate students in the Department are automatically members.

The GHA’s Co-Presidents coordinate all GHA activities, leading monthly meetings, and are the primary student liaisons to the Chair of the Department, the Director of Graduate Studies, and to the faculty in general. The Co-Presidents are elected at the end of each academic year. For the 2023–2024 academic year, Vayne Ong and Juliana Torres will serve in the position.

Juliana Torres is the History Department’s representative within the Arts and Science Graduate Council (ASGC), as well as a member of the Council’s Quality of Life Committee.

Official announcements from the GHA are disseminated via our university email list. All students are automatically enrolled in the list when they enter the graduate program. Students can send messages to the list only from their Columbia email accounts.

The email address for the list is hd-gha@lists.columbia.edu. Further questions about the list should be directed to the GHA’s Co-Presidents.
