The Graduate Program
Graduate History Association
The Graduate History Association (GHA) brings graduate students in the department together, and works to give them a voice in department affairs. Graduate students in the Department are automatically members.
The GHA’s Co-Presidents coordinate all GHA activities, leading monthly meetings, and are the primary student liaisons to the Chair of the Department, the Director of Graduate Studies, and to the faculty in general. The Co-Presidents are elected at the end of each academic year. For the 2021–2022 academic year, Jason Butters and Rochelle Malcom will serve in the position.

Official announcements from the GHA are disseminated via our university email list. All students are automatically enrolled in the list when they enter the graduate program. Students can send messages to the list only from their Columbia email accounts.
The email address for the list is email@example.com. To request to join the email list, please visit the list’s information page. Further questions about the list should be directed to the GHA’s Co-Presidents.
The GHA Wiki allows students to learn of upcoming events, to share information about orals lists and research techniques, to give advice about student life, and anything else they think useful. Anyone can read the Wiki, but only GHA members who request permission to manage content can edit it.
GHA Teaching Wiki
The GHA Teaching Wiki is where TAs can find sample TA documents like syllabi and writing guides, as well information on the logistics of teaching (reserving rooms, ordering desk copies of required readings).
