Osipova, Zinaida

Zinaida Osipova is a PhD student in the History Department, focusing on the early Soviet Union and the late Russian Empire. She is interested in connections between the two eras and Russia's place in the world before and after the 1917 Revolution. Her dissertation centers around the development of the city of Dzerzhinsk and its nitrogen industry, investigating the connections between Soviet industrialization and European technological pursuit.

Education

Before coming to Columbia, Zinaida received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (2017) and an M.A. in History from Miami University (2020).
