Jeon, Minsoo

Jeon Minsoo is a cultural and intellectual historian of the fifteenth-century Ottoman Empire and its neighboring Islamic states. Her research interests encompass early Ottoman historiography and genealogy, the development of Turkish literature, the making and sacralizing of Oghuz identity, and the political and social activities of Anatolian mystics.

Prior to pursuing her PhD at Columbia, Minsoo received an MA in Near Eastern Languages and Civilization at the University of Washington, and a BA in Western History at Yonsei University. Minsoo is affiliated with the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia. Her research has been supported by the Ilju Academy and Culture Foundation.
