Franklin Odo was a founder of the field of Asian American studies in 1971. He was Visiting Professor at Columbia from 1995 to 1997; Principal Investigator of a project of history and memory of Japanese Americans on the east coast for Columbia’s Center for Oral History, and edited the Columbia Documentary History of the Asian American Experience (2004).
