Sohum Pal is a PhD student in the History of the Atlantic World. His focus is on the connections between slavery in the colonial Americas, the development of debt, and the development of risk as an ontological category. He is also a freelance book critic with a focus on feminist philosophy, with writing in the Los Angeles Review of Books, Lux, and Full Stop. Sohum is also a JD student at Columbia Law School, where he is an Academic Scholar, and received a BA and MA in History from Yale University in 2020. Beyond Columbia, he enjoys watching movies at Film Forum and visiting MoMA PS1.
