Associate Professor Samuel Kelton Roberts was invited by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to author a report on federal regulatory policy and the history of methadone maintenance. On March 3, 2022, he presented this work to an audience at NASEM’s workshop, “Methadone Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder: Examining Federal Regulations and Laws.” The National Academies organized the workshop, attended by experts and key stakeholders, to examine the federal regulatory and legal landscape surrounding access to methadone for the treatment of opioid use disorder.
