Peter Slezkine is a doctoral student in international history. His dissertation, “The Unfree World: The Cold War and the Reinvention of the West” examines the postwar construction of a US-led West as a “Free World” opposed to an unfree Eastern enemy.
He graduated with a B.A. in history from the University of Chicago in 2011.
His article, “From Helsinki to Human Rights Watch: How an American Cold War Monitoring Group became and International Human Rights Institution,” appeared in the December 2014 issue of “Humanity.”
