Adrien is a first year graduate doctoral candidate in Middle East History at Columbia University where he is the recipient of a Richard Hofstadter Faculty Fellowship. His research focuses on late Ottoman History and the early 20th century history of the states of Turkey, Iraq and Syria.

Adrien received his undergraduate degree from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland, where he studied international law, political science and history. After working and traveling in the Middle East for a number of years, he completed his MA at the Georgetown University Center for Contemporary Arab Studies in 2010.
