Ana Isabel Keilson studies intellectual history and the history of dance. Her fields of interest include modern European intellectual history, the history of science and historical epistemology, western theatrical dance since the Renaissance, and art and cultural criticism of the Frankfurt School. Her dissertation on dance and politics in Germany, 1890-1935 focuses on the role of knowledge systems and theories of sovereignty among German modern dancers.

Ana received an MPhil from Columbia University (2012), and a BA Phi Beta Kappa from Barnard College (2005), where she was member of the Barnard Writing Fellows Program and the Slavic Honor Society. She is a recipient of awards from Columbia University, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Lilian Karina Foundation (Stockholm), the John Anson Kittredge Foundation, the Barnard Alumnae Association, and the Columbia University / SciencesPo Doctoral Exchange Program. Currently, she is a visiting fellow at the Institute for the History of Knowledge, Humboldt University (Berlin). Ana is also a choreographer.
