Christopher Jones specializes in the history of the ancient Near East, with a focus on the Assyrian Empire. Christopher graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011 with a B.A. in Peace, War & Defense and History. He then attended Wheaton College and in 2014 received his M.A. in Biblical Archaeology. He is interested in the structure and organization of the Neo-Assyrian state in the first millennium BC, especially bureaucracy and governmental organization.

Since 2014, Christopher has been active in documenting the destruction of antiquities in Iraq and Syria through his blog Gates of Nineveh. His work on this topic has appeared online or in print in the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Mother Jones, Le Figaro, Al Jazeera, The Global Dispatch, El Mundo, The Guardian, El Pais, The Atlantic, Fox News, LiveScience.com, War is Boring and National Geographic.
