Gavin Healy is a doctoral student in the History-East Asia program. His research interests include Qing legal history, the role of law in the social and cultural life of early modern China, and the adoption and adaptation of Chinese legal codes and procedures in Choson Korea. He received his BA in Asian Studies from Cornell University, a JD from Columbia Law School, and an MA in Chinese Studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Before entering the PhD program, he practiced law in New York and Seoul.
