Biography

Sarah Runcie specializes in modern African history, with a particular focus on histories of medicine and public health.  Her current project examines how Cameroonian doctors and political officials forged a new politics of public health through the intersecting changes of decolonization and the post-World War II internationalization of medicine.

Runcie holds a bachelor’s degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a master’s degree in Health Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.  She earned her PhD in history with distinction from Columbia University.
