Interests and Research

Edward Malefakis, Professor Emeritus of History, specializes in the social, political, and economic history of Modern Europe, particularly Spain. He received his B.A. from Bates College, his M.A. from Johns Hopkins, and his PhD from Columbia University. His publications include: Southern Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries: An Historical Overview (Instituto Juan March), 1992; La Guerra de España 1956-39, (Taurus), 1986; Indalecio Prieto, edited (Turner, 1975); and Agrarian Reform & Peasant Revolution in Spain: Origins of the Civil War (Yale University Press), 1970.
