Interests and Research

Kostis Karpozilos is currently working on a manuscript entitled The Ex-Communists: Cold War 'Turncoats' and 'Redeemers', which deals with the transfer of allegiances, the interrelation of the political and the personal and the multiple ways radicals and revolutionaries become “exes”. After obtaining his Ph.D from the University of Crete he taught at the University of the Peloponnese and at the Sciences Po Euro-American campus in Reims. His first book, on the 19th century Cretan socialist intellectual Stavros Kallergis, came out in 2013 and he is the scriptwriter of the historical documentary Greek-American Radicals- the Untold Story, which narrates the forgotten world of ethnic radicalism. In April 2014 he will organize a workshop at the Heyman Center devoted to the contesting visions of postwar reconstruction under the title 1943.
