Stockland, Pierre-Etienne

Field: Early Modern Europe; Advisor: Smith; Year: 2010

My dissertation, Insects, Anthropogenic Change, and Rural Environments in the Global French Enlightenment examined the place of useful insects and insect pests in the agrarian and urban environments of France and its colonies between c. 1670 -1830. My current research focuses on eighteenth-century rural-urban trade networks in Lower Languedoc, and in particular on the economic relationship between the cities of the region and the scrubland environments known as garrigues. I am currently living in Montpellier, France and I teach at Lycée Privé La Merci-Littoral.
